Robotic Surgery at Western Baptist
Western Baptist surgeons have a new helping hand in surgery—four of them, in fact—from the da Vinci Surgical System. This innovative technology offers patients shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery.
The da Vinci system is especially effective for hysterectomies and prostate surgery. The system seamlessly translates the surgeon’s hand, wrist and finger movements into precise, real-time movements of surgical instruments inside the patient.
The technology allows surgeons to reach areas which where previously not accessible. It is also possible to perform procedures with minimal incisions that otherwise would have required traditional open surgery.
Western Baptist is the first hospital in western Kentucky, and the only one west of Louisville, to offer the robotic system.
