Diagnostic Imaging Services at Western Baptist

Western Baptist’s Diagnostic Imaging department recently received national recognition with American College of Radiology (ACR) re-accreditation and a feature in an industry-leading magazine. The hospital received the ACR’s Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation through 2010; its breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy services received re-accreditation through 2012.

Also, the hospital, one of a few hospitals in the U.S. that uses only digital radiography (DR), is featured in the January 2009 Health Imaging and IT magazine. In the article, DR breathes new life into radiography, Bob Seely, Diagnostic Imaging director at Western Baptist, describes advantages of DR over computed radiography (CR) for patients. “The rationale was two-fold,” said Seely. “We wanted to keep radiology technicians in the room with patients, and we also wanted to increase the speed with which we get results for patients.”
