Baptist Regional Medical Center hosts a Med-Camp
Recently Baptist Regional hosted a Med-Camp for students across Kentucky. The students spent five days exploring different careers in healthcare. While on campus they attended several classes and became CPR and First-aid certified.
Evening activities included campus visits to Union college and the University of the Cumberland’s. During these visits professors and other instructors led workshops and gave demonstrations.
Throughout the week, students were able to learn by role play and were taught the proper technique to check blood pressure and to measure glucose and cholesterol. Students were also able to view a heart catheterization and to see the helicopter ambulance, Life Net, and meet with the pilot, a flight nurse, and a paramedic.
This intense week in the medical field enabled each student to better understand if a career in healthcare should be pursued.
