Baptist Regional Medical Center Offers New Prostate Treatment
The urologist at Baptist Regional Medical Center has recently begun using brachytherapy to treat prostrate cancer.
Brachytherapy is an advanced cancer treatment, often called seed implantation or interstitial radiation therapy, in which small radioactive seeds are placed in or near the tumor directly into the prostate gland. The seeds remain radioactive for one year providing continuous radiation.
This minimally-invasive treatment is preformed on an outpatient basis.
